MEET NETTIE GOULD

As a Native American mother of two and a personal trainer, Nettie is passionate about creating realistic fitness plans for healthy motherhood that is shaped by a focus on adaptability.

From the very beginning, Nettie’s journey was shaped by a legacy of strength

and discipline. Her mother, a proud Yakama, and her father, Cheyenne and Arapaho, knew the importance of building a solid foundation, so they enrolled her in the Boys & Girls Club, where she first picked up a basketball. It was there that Nettie began to forge her path, learning not just the game, but the values of hard work and commitment. Her father, a guiding force, took the lead—coaching her early mornings before school at 5am, teaching her the nuances of the game and shaping her into a sharp point guard with court IQ. From a young age, Nettie was instilled with a sense of purpose, discipline, and the relentless pursuit of greatness, both on and off the court.

As the years progressed, she began to travel alongside her cousins, competing in co-ed Native American basketball tournaments, attending training camps, and vying for playing time on her club team.

In 2010, Nettie made it as a walk-on and played point guard at The Evergreen State College in Washington State. Unfortunately, numerous cartilage tears in her knee would result in an abrupt end to her college basketball career. As a means of adapting, she would soon venture into a new area of fitness - bikini bodybuilding competitions.

In 2016, Nettie made the bold decision to leave her corporate job and follow her passion for fitness full-time, founding N8V Butterfly Training LLC, a personal training business specializing in adaptable sports endurance, bodybuilding, and postpartum programming. With deep roots in Indian Country, and a firm understanding of the unique challenges and social dynamics associated with being Indigenous, Nettie ensured her tribal traditions and values centering reciprocity and balance were reflected in her wellness practice and client care.

Nettie was featured on the Share Your Story podcast, where she offers listeners a glimpse into her professional wellness journey, being a mother and navigating as an entrepreneur.
